I have been in practice for over 30 years and I am continually struck by the immense sense of relief experienced by someone during therapy when they feel understood by their therapist and realize something new and important about themselves. As a result of this process, I have seen psychotherapy be helpful in dramatic ways. I have seen real sadness turn into hope; conflicted and difficult relationships evolve into mutually-satisfying partnerships; self-defeating thoughts and actions turn in a positive and affirmative direction; crippling and overwhelming anxiety give way to a solid and productive confidence . An important goal of therapy is to help individuals develop more control over their lives by weakening old and self-limiting patterns and strengthening new and more effective ways of managing one’s life. Working with a well-trained and experienced therapist can be a powerful and effective way of developing and strengthening one’s personal sense of control.
I am a clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience working with adults, adolescents and children who has offices in San Francisco and Marin county. I also see couples and consult with parents.
The problems I work with:
- anxiety and its manifestation such as trouble sleeping or headaches
- depression
- relationship issues
- work difficulties
- attention and behavior problem
- academic underachievement
It is difficult to describe the specific workings of a therapist’s style. Therefore, I strongly recommend an initial session or two to see if there is a comfortable match before deciding to continue.
If you would like to schedule an initial appointment, please leave your name and phone number(s) with my voicemail and I will return your call as soon as I can. Thank you very much.
